私の絵は金箔地油彩や花をテーマにしたものが多い。自然への観察と装飾性、そして西洋の
オーケストラに見られる多彩性、それらを合わせもったところに特色があると思う。骨太な
ダイナミズムよりは、むしろフラジャイールなしなやかさ、強靭さに魅かれる。
かつて河北倫明先生が「二名さんの絵の装飾性は明るい知性と健康なファンタジー、オシャ
レな味わいの愛と優しさといったものが印象的な風趣を成している｣と評価してくださった。
この装飾性といわれる主観客観をないまぜにした美の見方をどのように具体的な自分のもの
として磨きあげるか。そこを女性ならではの感性を通して清新な美の世界を考えていきたい。
近年出会ったオールド・ノリタケの装飾性には、まちがいなく私が心を奪われる世界がある。
その高度な絵付の技術を修得したいと日夜研鑽を重ねている。油絵と絵付は技法も筆致も全
く異なるが、そこには貫流する力学があると信じている。

My work is principally categorized as oil painting on gold foil, featuring flowers as a central theme. I believe the distinctive characteristics of my paintings are a combination of the following; acute observation and appreciation of nature, ornamentation, and a versatility that is comparable to that of Western symphonic orchestras.
I seem to be most attracted to art that is subtle and delicate, but at the same time possesses an undeniably strong presence. I prefer this ethereal type of art to that which is overtly bold and audacious.
A Sensei of mine, Mr. Michiaki Kawakita, once described my work by remarking, “The ornamentation of Ms. Futana’s paintings suggests dazzling intelligence, wholesome fantasy, and a sophisticated sensation of tenderness, love and kindness".
I strive to develop a balanced combination of subjective and objective perspectives of my work so that I can embody both conditions for myself.
To attain this goal, I wish to construct a renewed “World of Beauty” using my own sensibilities as a woman.
I recently encountered the world of “Old Noritake”; its intricate detail took my breath away. I am tirelessly working day and night to hone a technique which will produce similar high quality glazed ornamentation.
While the techniques and brushworks of oil paintings and glazed decoration appear to be grossly dissimilar, I believe there exists a certain corresponding dynamic flow between the two.
